cannot view photos in "my pictures"

For some reason, everytime i try to store a pic, it stores with just an icon
and says "no preview available." i just got this computer, and i dont know if
there's supposed to be a program on it to view pictures, cuz it keeps trying
to open with the paint program. Someone plz help me its driving me crazy!

The default image viewer in Win XP is
Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

If you are referring to images you dl from the
net, maybe they are .bmps instead of .jpgs.

Also, you may need to reset your file associations:

If all else fails, you may have a corrupted user
