I have a system that will not complete an upgrade from Windows XP Home to XP
Media Center 2005 Edition. It gets to about 70% installing devices and then
restarts the setup at Preparing Installation. I tried booting back to the
Windows XP Home cd and it first asked if I wanted to cancel the setup. I
said yes, however the setup did not cancel and I'm still in this loop. Does
anyone know how to cancel an XP upgrade setup?

Thanks

You cannot upgrade Windows XP Home Edition
to Windows Media Center Edition. You'll need
to perform a "clean install".

Do you know how to cancel the setup though? If there is a chance to boot up
the system first, I certainly want to be able to in order to backup some
files first.

Use your Windows XP Home Edition CD and
try performing a "Repair Install". Otherwise,
you are in a situation where you'll need to go
ahead with a "Clean Install" as you have passed the
point of no return.
