cannot start remote access connection manager

My system is Win XP with comcast boardband. I cannot
connect to Internet thru Internet. AOL tech support
asked me to start the remote access connection manager
under administrative tools/services. The remote access
connection manager cannot be started and I got the
following error message:

Cannot start remote access connection manager in this
local computer. Error 193:0xc1

Please help. Thanks.

193 ERROR_BAD_EXE_FORMAT

Sounds like the file got corrupted. Maybe doing an "sfc /scannow" would
pick up something.
