Cannot Share an external HD

I have a 120GB external HD connected to my laptop
(running windows XP Pro) via a USB cable. The drive is
formated as a NTFS partition. I have enabled sharing on
the drive, but nobody on the network can access the
drive, they can see the share, and can view files on my
other shares, but when they click on the share to open
it, windows (also XP Pro) comes up with "not enough
memory to complete request". Both computers have 256MB of
ram, so i cannot see how this is a problem, unless
sharing of Removable/External HD's has been disabled, but
windows just cant think of another way of expressing the
error.
