I send out a newsletter by email to a group of people, sometimes direct from
WinMail sometimes via MS Word. I have not changed anything in my settings or
set-up but just recently one of my contacts say they just get what appears
to be a blank email from me with a 1kb attachment image001.gif.

However, if they open my email and click Forward, when the new window opens
to put the forward address in, the message I sent can be read, with all the
formatting etc I used.

They say they haven't changed anything in their setup, but I think they must
have - any ideas anyone?

Thanks

If only one recipient has this issue, it is likely something they did
on their end. I have no idea what that could be. As a minimum, we
would need the name of their email client program.

If the message looks OK in your Sent Items folder, then it sounds
like that recipient is doing something wrong on his end, especially
so if none of the other recipients have that problem.

That's what I concluded, the question is what could he be doing wrong? I
know the guy has little to no technical knowledge of PC's so I have been
trying to find out what the problem is - without much luck, even though I do
recall having a similar problem myself once but it just seemed to correct
itself. I assumed it was something the sender had done, then corrected - now
I'm not so sure!

Hard to say what is happening, when the information is hearsay
from a non-savvy user. I would suspect interference from an antivirus
program. Which antivirus is he running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, the antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, he should
consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone
to suffering bad effects from intrusive antivirus programs:

Thanks Gary, I'll pass that info on.

Just discovered that they are able to view ordinary emails sent from within
Winmail, it is mail sent to them from within MS Word (as part of office
2003). Again I have been sending email from within Word for some time using
a standard template - nothing fancy - and suddenly they are getting this
problem

The mail that you are sending from within Word, is it being sent
by Outlook or by Windows Mail? Office 2003 packages often
include Outlook.

Windows Mail - I didn't install Outlook (I don't like it for some reason).
Like I said originally, I am sending the same way as always, I haven't
changed any settings - I treat computers/software like old cars: if it ain't
broke, don't fit it!

If you send an email to yourself from within Word, are you able to
open that email when received and see the text?
Do you know if Word is sending plain text or HTML? Perhaps Word
is sending non-standard HTML that is not readable by some recipients.
Other than that, I don't know what else could cause that problem.
