Outlook paper clip icon

Suddenly emails from my outlook email have an attachment icon when received
by others. I have sent an email to my other email address (yahoo) and sure
enough, there is the icon and the message 'image001.gif (1KB). When I open
it, there are various thumbnail images from from my computer. The virus scan
(Norton) says there are no viruses. I really do not know what to do next.

are you using images within your messages?

are the images imbedded or just referenced from a file ie: My
Documents?

Sending them text did not make much difference, there was something else
attached to the email (winmail.dat (4KB)).

There are no images with the message, and the attcahment images open with a
picture program and just show lots of images from web pages I have used.

Google winmail.dat and you will be able to fix the problem.

How to Configure Outlook NOT to send Winmail.dat attachments

To Turn off Rich Text sending for messages in Microsoft Outlook

1) Click on Tools
2) Click Options, and then click the Mail Format tab.
3) In the Send in this Message Format list, select Plain Text, and then
click OK.

This will set your default sending method to Plain Text, which will lose
your special formatting options with fonts, colors, etc. However everyone,
no matter what email program they are using, will now be able to receive
your email with no problems.
