Cannot see taskbar buttons for programs

While RDCing to my laptop today, the taskbar buttons for the programs on my
main machine disappeared. I can still see the quick launch, system tray etc,
just not my main program buttons. Any idea how I can restore them? I've tried
rebooting, to no avail.

Common issue, generally after updating WMP. Either way.....
