Cannot Save or Load Desktop Themes in Display Properties

When I click 'Save As...' on the display properties theme
tab, no file is saved. Also, the desktop themes provided
by windows do not show up on the drop down menu, are
missing and/or have been deleted. I have tried system
restore with no success. Any help is greatly appreciated.


Notes

To open Display, click Start, click Control Panel, and
then double-click Display.
You can delete themes you created, themes you installed
from a CD-ROM, or themes you downloaded from the Web. You
cannot delete the themes provided by Windows.

Search your computer for files called *.theme using the
Windows Search tool.

If the files were corrupted or deleted, do a "Repair Install," which will
not lose any data files or software. It will only repair Windows.

Do a "Repair Install" as described at:

http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/repair_xp.htm

When the page opens, scroll down and click on: How To Run A Repair
Install. There is a step by step walk through including images. Your
software, settings, data files etc. are retained.

Windows XP Repair Installs have save me a few times...

Thank you so much for directing me to Kelly's website.
If fixed the problem instantly. I was impressed with
your help. I clicked on the registry file and it merged
into the registry database. After that, I downloaded and
placed two files, Windows Classic.theme and Luna.theme,
into the windows resource theme folder and it worked
immediately. Again, thanks a bunch! {Big Smile}.
