cannot play music downloaded from Internet

My computer came with Windows Media Player installed. I have ripped numerous
tracks off cd's and made my own playlists.
I downloaded 2 tunes from the Internet for the first time. They are .wma
files, just like the ones I ripped. But they will not play.
When I click on them I receive a window saying Windows Media Player was not
installed properly and to reinstall it.
Why can I play files ripped from cd's, but not downloaded from the Internet?

Music downloaded from the Internet plays at a different speed/rate then ones
copied from CD's. Check yours at Start>Control Panel>Sounds and Audio>
Audio tab>Sound Playback>Advanced>Performance tab>Full and Best.
If already set at that, click Restore Defaults. Repost if not resolved, for
some WMA's will not play in WMP due to compression ratio, then you can
try WinAmp, MMJB, QuickTime, or RealPlayer, etc.
