cannot open files

Several files including most downloads are recognized as .wps (microsoft works ) files and cannot be nopened. It even sees .exe files as .exe.wps files after downloading meaning I cannot download anything

Any help would be great.
 
I have problems opening files because my computer says that it doesnt know
what created them( they are pictures I recieved as attachments with an
e-mail)I've tried everything Please Help!!!

I am having the same problem. I cannot open downloads....exe. file
are shown as .exe.wps files and Word cannot open. This problem poppe
up about Jan.7.2005. When did your problem 1st occur?
