cannot open file from disc

I have been using Excel for over a year and accessing the
same file from floppy to daily update info. As of
yesterday there is one file that I get the following
message when trying to open..."...cannot be accessed. The
file may be read only or you may be trying to access a
read-only location." Why would I get this warning
message after it has been working all this time?
Thanks for any help!
 
Hi
NEVER access a file directly from a floppy disk. This will eventually
lead to corrupted files. ALWAYS copy the file first to your harddisk
 
Make sure floppy is not protected physically or the file is
corrupted.... me.... if the file is very important I would not rely on
floppies anymore... I would have a back up somewhere else for occasions
like these.
