Cannot open excel file, doesn't respond

Looking for an answer about an Excel file that I have used
for 5 years, but suddenly it won't open. When I use
alt/control/delete after waiting for an eternity for the
file to open, it says "not responding". This file has all
my financial data on it and of course, I haven't backed it
up. Any help is appreciated. I don't know what else to
try. Thanks

You can try copying it to a different location. If you are
double-clicking it, try instead to use the File/Open menu. If that
works, then set automatic backup. Taking a copy of the file to another
computer might work also if it is a problem with your Excel
installation.
