Cannot open Excel file

Running Office 2007 on Windows Vista for a long time, no problem. Today, out
of the suddenly, Excel files stopped being open when I double-click the file.
I can only open Excel file from whithin Excel program using the option
"Open". Already repaired Office, unistalled and reinstalled Excel 2007!
Nothing has worked... Still the error message:

Windows cannot find
'C:\file path...\file name.xlsx'. Make sure you typed the name correctly and
then try again.

Any clue?

Cheers,

MAB.

Hi,

Sounds like the file is corrupted. I think you can try a utility
called Advanced Excel Repair to repair your Excel xls file. It works
rather well for my corrupt Excel xls files. Its web address is
http://www.datanumen.com/aer/ Good luck!

Alan,

Thank you for the answer. The problem is not with one specific file. It's
with all Excel files! Would all of them be corrupted? I don't think so...
unless it's a virus for Excel. As no Excel file is open unless from the Open
option from whithin the Excel, I think there might exist a config problem!

Regards,

MAB.

I'm having the same problem. My excel program came preloaded on my Dell
computer. I worked online 45 minutes today with a Dell tech, they can't
solve the problem either. I can open about 50% of my spreadsheets, but the
rest say "corrupt". The tech suggested possibly copying the sheets to a scan
disk and opening them on another computer. I haven't tried that yet, however
it doesn't sound to promising. Still searching for a solution

Finally!

Go to Excel button and click Excel options. In Advance (left panel) see in
the General options whether the option "Ignore other applications... (DDE)"
is selected. If so, unselect it!

That's it!

Now you can open any Excel file just clicking on it!

excel 2007 cannot open file

Greetings.

I am using MSOffice 2007 for Home and Student. About 2 weeks ago, I can't open my excel files.
The symptoms are as follows:
  1. the Excel screen is hanging with the hour glass working hard.
  2. need to close the program.
  3. the excel file happened to be disabled and need to enable using the excel option in add-in option
  4. tried to create a brand new worksheet with only simple arithmetic, say 1 = 1 = 2, save under a new name, but could not open again.
I've tried to uninstall and reinstall the MSOffice, but same thing happened again, I have tried all suggestion from forum users which got same problem.

Thanks in advance!

still unsolved

' nus : To resolve this issue in Office 2007 Click on the Orb, and then click on "Excel Options", Select Advanced on the left hand side, on the right hand side remove the check mark from "Ignore other applications that use dynamic data exchange" '

I think it might help me a lot if I can open my Excel program. In my case, I cant open any of my excel even blank spreadsheet. Everytime I click at excel (either at required doc or at excel program) this would appear 'Microsoft Office Excel has stopped working". Since I cant open any excel, so I cant found "Excel Options" and proceed with other steps.

Is there any other solution for my problem except than Format the whole system since all my work were kept in it. Please help me.

By the way, currently i'm using Microsoft Office 2007 / Window Vista ~ if this info can help.

I actually DID open an .xlsx file while IN Excel. The trick for me was to have it on a thumb drive. Once in Excel, I open it from the thumb and go to town.

Until recently all of a sudden excel will not open up just from the file. I have the same problem as here on these posts. I have tried the excel options, advanced and unchecked ignor other applications. Didn't help. While I have excel open, I still have to go to open, then to the file, then it opens up. Any suggestions?
