trouble opening saved Excel files

I can open and work on saved Excel files, but if I then start Internet
Explorer and try to then open a saved Excel file all I get is a Not
Responding message. Closing Explorer only will still not allow be to open
the saved files. If I Shut-down and start again I can open and work on Excel
files that were not available after Internet Explorer. This is a real time
waster. Any ideas. Haven't loaded any software and haven't updated Excel
since the purchase of my pc

Hi,

I don't know that this will help but you can give it a try

In Excel choose Tools, Options, General, and turn on Ignore other
applications.
