Cannot open any page with IE 6

I am not able to open any page at all using IE with
service pack 1, I have tried everything possible but
still the same. I do install updates regularly and my PC
is up to date.

I'm having the exact same problem

I have a home network and other PC's on the nerwork can still view pages, therefore it is not an ISP problem. Initially I tried a System Restore (without success) then tried restoring my Winsock2 registry key from one of the PC's on which IE6 functions properly, but this made no difference. I also removed a recent update for IE6 - again this made no difference. Finally I tried installing IE6 again, with no difference being made yet again

I cannot think what else to do/try - please help!

I have the same problem. I did a virus scan and spyware
scan. If you get an answer, pleas post it here or email
me. Thanks. Is anybody from Microsoft listening?

We are having the same problem. However, when we type
http:// before the web address, the page loads. When we
just type in the url, www.microsoft.com, it defaults to
c:\documents and settings... Is this similar to your
problem?

IE 6.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

More: This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
