Printing problem with IE after unistalling IE 7

IE7 installed automatically via automatic updates. Uninstalled IE 7 to go
back to IE 6 (OS is WIndows XP Home SP2). I can print from all programs
except Internet Explorer. When i click the printer icon in IE or go to
File-Print... Nothing happens. If i bring up print preview, another IE
window opens with nothing but a white screen. Page setup in IE will lock IE
up. The Help/About in IE 6 is showing it is IE 7 installed and the options
under internet option/advanced looks like IE 7 options. IE 7 is still showing
in auto updates as available and if i try to rerun the IE 6 service pack, i
get a messgae abotu a newer version installed. I downloaded and installed the
latest HP print drivers and i can print fine from Firefox. Any help resolving
this would be appreciated

Scott,
I can't offer help, just consolation - I am in the same boat! i have a
client who can't get on with IE7 and asked me to remove it so I tried rolling
back to 6 without success (it failed to run properly.) I deleted the entire
installation of IE6 to try to reinstall. Now the OS cannot recognise that IE6
is missing. My client of course uses Outlook Express almost exclusively so
I'm up sh*t creek! How were you installing IE6 and Outlook Express - from
your XP disc?
Kim.
