Gary

I can no longer access "google". I type have used the
explorer troubleshooter but no help there. I've deleted
temp internet files, cache, etc. When I type in the
address for google I receive a green screen with the
message, "there is no website configured at this address."

Any help is appreciated.

I have the same problem, and some. When I try to search
for something using Yahoo, it always comes up "Page could
not be found." I've already scanned for viruses and all
that, and nothing was found. HELP. I HATE MICROSOFT
SUPPORT.

Gary,

I think you've an unwanted hijacking Trojan on board.

Qhosts Trojan
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/darnit_3.htm#qhost

Removal using the Trojan.Qhosts Removal Tool
Symantec Security Response has developed a removal tool to clean the
infections of Trojan.Qhosts. This is the easiest way to remove this threat
and should be tried first.

Manual Removal
As an alternative to using the removal tool, you can manually remove this
threat.

The following instructions pertain to all current and recent Symantec
antivirus products, including the Symantec AntiVirus and Norton AntiVirus
product lines.

Disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP).
Update the virus definitions.
Run a full system scan and delete all the files detected as Trojan.Qhosts.
Reverse the changes that were made to the registry.
Reverse the changes that were made to the Hosts file.

For specific details on each of these steps:

Install the latest IE cumulative patch for protection against QHosts:

Corrupt or compromised HOSTS file.

Search for the file named HOSTS (just that, no extension).

Open it with any text editor (Wordpad, Notepad, etc.),
delete everything, save the blank document. If you're
skittish about what might happen, save a copy on your
desktop before you clear it out.

Restart your machine.

All should be well.
