Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the
registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using
another method. These problems might require that you

To enable verbose logging on a Windows XP-based computer,
follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit
in the Open field, and then click OK

2. Locate and then double-click LogLevel under the following
registry subkey:

3. On the Edit DWORD Value window, click to select
Hexadecimal on the Base pane.
4. Type 0000FFFF in the Value data box.
5. Click OK.

You're not following the directions correctly. You skipped step
#2.

Navigate to this registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup

Look in the right hand pane for a entry named LogLevel.
Double click on that value.
A box should pop up titled "Edit Dword Value".
Within that box there's a Base section. That's what the article
means by "Base pane".
Make sure Hexadecimal is selected.
You can now enter 0000FFFF in the Value data box and click OK.

FYI, I hope you realize that the version of Windows Desktop
Search you're trying to install should only be installed if
you're running Outlook 2007 Beta.

Good luck
