Cannot Install Blaster Worm Patch ERROR update.inf

PLEASE HELP!!

I have no Blaster Worm Protection

My system will not let me install the patch.
Even after I download it with intial success.

I cleaned the W32.Blaster.Worm with Symantec's
W32.Blaster.Worm Removal Tool

Then after the tool completes it's sweep and removes the
virus, it sends you to Microsoft's Repair Patch
(in My case it's for Windows XP)

It's called:
Blaster Worm: Critical Security Patch for Windows XP

File Name:
WindowsXP-KB823980-x86-ENU.exe

Version:
823980

I downloaded it many times successfully.
But at the end of the load it won't let me install it.

I receive an error message each time.

Error Message Box Reads:
"KB823980 Set Up Error

Setup could not verify the integrity of the file
Update.inf. Make sure the Cryptographic
service is running on this computer."

I have no idea why it's doing this.

Some quick background: I have the lastest Norton Anti-Virus
and Norton security Firewall. I don't know why there is a
conflict. Can someone please help me?

I need to install the security patch. Otherwise, the worm
will keep
coming in over and over regardless of how many times I
sweep it out.

Please Respond. Maybe others are experiencing the same
problem.

I hope I'm in the correct newsgroup. If not, please direct
me to the correct one. Thank you in advance.

you are not alone, everyone is having this problem.

haven't heard of anyone finding a solution that works yet.
