Cannot Hibernate or Standy

I have a new Dell Lat. D630 with Windows XP Pro.
My computer will neither hibernate or standby. Both options are present, it
just does not do it. Hibernation is enabled.
Any ideas?

Did you add RAM?
You cannot put a computer that has more than 4 GB of memory into hibernation
in Windows XP and in Windows Server 2003 :
