Cannot get IE 6.0 to work at all

I am connected to the Net via DSL. Opera works. Netscape
works. Outlook sends and receives email. Every time i try
IE 6.0, i get "cannot find server." I have done a lot of
trouble shooting, all with no solution. I have tried to
uninstall and reinstall; but cannot find IE on the list of
currently installed programs in the "Add or Remove
Programs" popup window. I even tried to delete the
Internet Explorer folder in the Program Files directory.
Got a message back saying IE was already running.
Unfortunately, there are a few websites i downlod from
regularly that will only use IE. Otherwise, this would not
be a problem. I will appreciate any help. Thanks, Tuck

You may have malware which needs to be removed. Work through the
solutions (CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot) at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm Also note the security tips on that
page.

LSPFix or another of the programs listed at http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
may repair your Winsock settings.

Open the Internet Options applet in Control Panel
Uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions" on the Advanced tab.
You may also have to set the Home Page to about:blank

Then eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
