Cannot get Antivirus download to work with XP

I have tried Norton and McAfee and, and when ordering
identify that I operate Windows XP. But when I press
finish, it says cannot operate with this program. Un-
install and re-install to get correct version. But this
method does not work. How can I get an anitvirus program
installed?

What VERSION of Norton?
What VERSION of McAfee?

It takes a certain level to be compatible with Windows XP.

If you don't want to buy one, go this route..
