Hi Guys-

In making the rounds lately with my consulting I've had this happen on
4 computers. The common element I have found it SpyBot Search and
Destroy. I haven't had the time to tip toe through and find out what
program is doing this, but it's undoubtedly a piece of spyware. 1
Computer I couldn't get IE to work after trying every knowledge base
under the sun, The other computer I reinstalled the winsock settings
from the registry (Using win 98 and going into the registry and
deleting the winsock stuff) and the other computer I reinstalled
TCP/IP and sadly, Restored all the stuff spybot took out. Whatever
program this is, it's making me look like a fool, and it's making my
clients pissed off (at me).

This needs to be fixed. The problem is all over this board. At first I
thought it was a win update goof. But, now Im thinking its a spyware program
that messed up the winsock settings and Spy bot was happy to remove. My pc
has had this problem for about 2 months now. Ive virus scanned, spy botted,
spy sweeped, system restored as far back as 3 months and still a no-go on
only certain web sites. I have windows XP home, a cable connection, and
Mcafee AV and firewall. Ive deleted the HOSTS file, whatever that is, and
cleared the cache, etc, etc. Cant figure it out. Most web sites are very
fast with the cable connection. But some sites will not load at all, like
harleydavidson.com, match.com, PayPal.com, Netscape.com, to name a few. My
home page is my.yahoo and that was the first indication that something was
up. It would not load, or it would be very slow to load. Now its
intermitent. Some days its ok others it wont work. However the other above
mentioned sites never work. This all started about november, I think.
Here's a log file from Hijackthis of my PC, for those much more clever than
me:
