When I open the Component Services snap-in for the MMC and try to expand the
[Console Root] - [Component Services] - [Computers] folder, I get the
following error:
Title = Catalog Error
An error occurred while processing the last operation.
Error code 80080005 - Server execution failed
The event log may contain additional troubleshooting information.

The event log has 1 application event error:
Source = COM+
Category = SVC
Event ID = 4097
Description = The run-time environment has detected an inconsistency in
its internal state. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to
report this error. Error in .\crmrecoveryclerkobj.cpp(1149), hr = 80070003:
GetVolumeInformation

I'm also getting an error in the system log:
Source = DCOM
Category = None
Event ID = 10010
Description = The server {02D4B3F1-FD88-11D1-960D-00805FC79235} did not
register with DCOM within the required timeout.

The machine is Windows 2000 SP4. comsvcs.dll is version 2000.2.3504.0

Thanks in advance

Sean

I fixed this by re-installing COM+

1, delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\COM3 form the registry
2, delete C:\WINNT\Registration (I tried to delete C:\WINNT\Registration but
it wouldn't let me because a file was being used so I had to boot to a
Windows 2000 cd, go to the recovery console, delete the contents of the
folder and then the folder itself)
3, open Add/Remove programs
4, open Add/Remove Windows Components & click through accepting all
defaults. It will re-install COM+.
