Cannot enter MSCONFIG in RUN

I used to be able to type msconfig in the RUN hit enter and edit my start-up
items ... I just tried it and the window pops up for a split second , then
disappears . I restarted the cpu and no help...

Any suggestions

You've got a virus. Scan your machine with the latest updates to your
AV software.
