I am using windows xp home version. I have a file in
my trash and every time I try to empty it. I get the
message that it cannot because the item is being used.
There are no other programs running and it isn't being
used. How do I get it out of my trash and emptied.

I have used Norton disk doc and win doc but it's still
in my trash.

I need help.

Thanks

Bill
I should have mentioned this. Make sure the file you're trying to delete
isn't a system file.

Hi Bill!
Try logging on in safe mode and deleting it from there.

I'll try logging on in safe mode tomorrow when I'm back in
work.
Thanks for the info

Hi, Jax.

I recall a similar problem some time go. You may have to try this two
different ways as I can't quite remember.... Delete a file in the normal way
(I suggest copying something to your desktop and then deleting it) and then
try emptying the recycle bin. If that doesn't work, do the same but reboot
before emptying the recycle bin.

Good luck,

Ed
