hello,

I have DSL through Verizon. I am using Outlook for the
email service. I can send and receive messages with no
problem unless I attach a file greater than 100Kb or so,
then I get the following message:

Task 'incoming.verizon.net - Sending' reported error
(0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to the server was
interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your
server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

I can send the same message directly from the Verizon
page with no problem. I contacted Verizon and they say
the problem is in Outlook.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

The message is clear about calling the ISP. Since AFAIK there is no
setting in Outlook to limit attachment sizes, and such configuration
settings are possible on most mail servers, I would suspect something at
Verizon.

Call them back and be specific about what setting in Outlook is at fault.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Thank you for the feedback. I called them again after
posting. They reiterated it is in Outlook and not their
service. In an effort to trouble shoot, I have since
disabled the outgoing email scan in Norton AV 2003 with
the result being the files now pass through with no
problem. Presume it is port timing related due to the
scan. Well beyond my current ability to modify without
direction. I will post to Symantec site to see if they
can help focus my efforts.

Thank you again.

This is a known issue with the integrated in-/outgoing mailscan from Norton.
If you disable it all runs well again. You really don't need the
in-/outgoing mailscan; the on access scanner will sufice.

Thanks for the info. I read the Symantec instructions
for addressing the problem and they make reference to an
automatic disconnect after sending or receiving
messages. Supposedly, this must be turned off. Could
find no such option in Outlook.

Again, thank you for the input.

I have a US Robotics 8054 Wireless Access Point, and
whatever DSL modem was provided by Verizon.

Thus far, it appears that the problem is with email
scanning by Norton AV 2003 for outgoing emails. If I
disable that feature, all works as designed. Have posted
a request for assistance from Symantec, but so far no
response beyond the useless automated reply. Have tried
everything on their site, so far disabling the email scan
for outgoing messages is the only thing that works.

Thank you for your time

There is absolutely no reason to have this scanning enabled (or, for that
matter, inbound mail scanning), as long as the AV program's real-time
scanner is running.
