unable to receive email in Outlook 2003

I have Verizon DSL. I've created an email account and followed all the steps
to set up this account. I would like to use Outlook 2003 for my email rather
than go to the 'net to use the account.
I have checked that I set up everything correctly. I can send email with
Outlook with no problem, but the only way I seem able to receive email is to
go to the Internet and sign on with Verizon.
Any suggestions? I'd appreciate any help.

What are the steps Verizon told you to use?

Thanks for responding.
The steps from Verizon are:
Mail server settings-
Incoming mail server (POP3):incoming.verizon.net
Outgoing mail server (SMTP):blush:utgoing.verizon.net
Your Verizon Online user name
Your Verizon Online Password

I have checked all of the above with Verizon's online email check and
received a message that everything was correct.

I am wondering if it isn't something else that I need to change/correct?
I'm not very savvy when it comes to the network settings.

As I said, I can send from Outlook but not receive. I get the messages I'm
sending myself by signing back into Verizon online and going to my email
there.

And if within OL you use the Test Mail settings option (Accounts)
What error msg is given?

So, post the contents of the log, makeing sure you do NOT include any real
mail addresses in the post. It seems you already did a couple of posts ago.
Always mung mail addresses you're going to post.

Yes, that's what I wanted, but you should have masked the mail addresses
first.

The "OK 0 0" line indictaes that the Verizon server is telling Outlook that
it has no messages fo download, so Outlook closes the connection until the
next send/receive. There are zero attempts to send messages, so apparently
your Outlook doesn't have anything waiting in Outbox. This log indicates
everything is just fine. There's nothing for Outlook to receive.
