Cannot display secure pages

I run IE 6 on WinXP
I cannot open any pages over a secure connection.

For example: AFter I log into hotmail.com and enter my emailid and password, I get the following message
"You are about to view pages over a secure connection....." after clicking OK, I get the page that as follows:

This page cannot be displayed .........

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
