cannot create new folder anywhere what as happened

i have noticed it for a while but its driving me insane now
when i rightclick on my desktop there is no option to create new folder and
when i go to my documents and click on file there is no option but when i
have my documents file and folder tasks open the option is there at the top
when i click on the make a new folder i hear a error sound no message appears
and no folder appears so i am getting frustrated as i need new folder space
does anyone know exactly where the option as gone and how i can get it back
as i have searched high and low with no results thank you

When you right-click Desktop, and choose "New", is the "Folder" entry
missing?

hi thanks for replying

yes it is missing it used to be there but now as gone when i right click
anywhere its not there
the only 2 places i see it available is in my documents in the left corner
in file and folder tasks but when i click on it i hear a windows warning
sound or some type of alert sound
when im on aol if i click on file and the small square save as dialog box
comes up to save i see the small icon up in the right hand corner to create
new folder but when i click it does the same thing
but yes it as definitly gone when i right click
i have windows xp
my pc version is intel pentium 4 (emachines)

Hi Shelly,

I don't have a solution for this, right now. Other users have posted similar
questions as of recent (error message "cannot create folder "New Folder"" or
similar), and no solution found as of yet. See if this command helps from
Start/Run:

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

Restart Windows. If that does not help, try a System Restore rollback.
