Cannot Create Email - Vista

When I click on the "Create Mail" I get a window that pops up and says
"Windows Mail has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop
working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a
solution is available. "

I select the Close Program button and it shuts down my mail and restarts it
every time.

McAfee antivirus is among the top three troublemakers for Windows Mail.
Sometimes it takes a while before symptoms start showing up.
First of all, turn off email scanning in McAfee, although that is seldom sufficient.
Next, delete that email account (because it has been corrupted by McAfee),
restart Windows Mail, then recreate the account.

If the problem continues, the only way you can prove or disprove that
McAfee is the culprit is to uninstall it, followed by using their debris removal tool:

If you decide to replace McAfee, we can recommend a free antivirus
program which is more compatible with Windows Mail:

Instead of switching to a different antivirus, another option is to upgrade
to Windows Live Mail (WLM), which is more resistant to the adverse effects

Even with WLM, you must disable email scanning in the antivirus,
for the reason explained here:

I have the exact same problem I don't use mc afee I use ca from road runner I
uninstalled it didn't help. the problem started when I installed service
pack1 for vista I have been using vista for over a year with out a problem I
also loaded windows live and it does the same thing in Live

Both Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail freeze up when you start
a new email? That sounds bad, and you've already done what I would
have suggested (uninstall your antivirus). You could try upgrading
Windows Live Mail to the latest beta version:
