Cannot connect to MM with Digital Camcorder?

All of a sudden I'm not able to link up with MM or Pinnacle editing software.
Computer says it can't find camcorder. The error I get sometimes that I
need get help from Creative Technology for the 32 bit driver???? I reset the
camcorder by removing the battery plus moved the firewire cable from port to
port. Not sure about this Creative 32 bit driver problem?

Are you connecting via a creative sound card?
Check in device manager whether there is a problem with the firewire card.
Have you done anything to the pc, added or removed anything at all since it
last worked?
Try system restore back to when it did work.
