Cannot Change Resources in Device Manager

R

Russ Stodieck

I want to change the IRQ for my graphics card to IRQ 11. However, changing
recourses in the device manager is disabled. Use automatic settings is
checked and the lower half of the window is grayed out.

How do I change resources.

WINXP Home....

Thanks,
Russ

I found the answer to my own question....Microsoft says, "This behavior is
by design." Isn't that special....

Unable to Change Resource Settings in Windows XP Device Manager

SYMPTOMS
On a computer that is running the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface
(ACPI) Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL), you are not able to change a
resource setting for a device in Device Manager.

If you modify the resource settings in the BIOS, the changes do not
register.

CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the ACPI HAL controls resource assignments in
Windows XP and does not permit user intervention.

STATUS
This behavior is by design.

Russ, I am having the same problem with a pci wifi card. Did you find a way around it or are we just out of luck?
