Cannot capture video thru Firewire

Hi,

I'm having trouble importing video from my miniDV camcoder.

Setup:

PC: Athlon XP2800+, 1GB PC-3200 RAM,
2 x 60GB 7200 ATA100, Radeo 9550 128MB
WinXP/Win2K3
IEE1394: generic VIA 6306 add-on card
DV: JVC GR-D33U
connected using DV -> 4pin -> 6pin -> PC cable.

What's going on:

1. Added card to PC -> Windows seems to detect it properly as VIA OHCI
Compliant IEEE 1394 bus controller

2. Connected DV to PC and turned it on -> Windows detects it properly as a
JVC GR-D33

3. Open MM2 go to capture (select DV-AVI) and start recording -> camera
starts playing the video but nothing gets captured or previed. After
stopping recording I'm told no data was captured. If I just try to just
preview the video again I cannot see anything although I can play, pause,
rewind and fast forward the tape just fine.

I'm a bit stumped and frustrated... plug-n-play, ahem... Any suggestions?

I'd start by removing the firewire drivers, removing the card and installing
it in another pci slot and trying again, in case something is conflicting
with the card.
