Problems capturing Film

I have a jvc gr-d33 minidv camcorder hooked via 1394 firewire to my compact,
running windows xp home. the wmm recognizes the camcorder but when i go to
capture nothing is in the preview screen and when I click finish, i get an
error message "the video was not captured correctly verify that your video
camera and capture device are configured properly". PLEASE HELP.

Check you are capturing in ntsc/pal the same as the camcorder.
Try using something like windv as a capture utitlity, scroll down this page

I am capturing in ntsc. I tried windv, and went to JVC's webwite and
downloaded jlip video capture software. I still can't capture anything, Is
there some driver I need to install, I am really at a loss.
