Cannot add certain contacts to distribution list in Outlook 2007

I am having the weirdest problem creating a distribution list. I am
creating a new list and when I try to add contacts to this list, most
of the contacts in my address book can't be added to the list.

I click the "select members" button and find the contacts I want to
add, but then when I click OK they don't show up in the list. There
are a very few that I am able to add, but the majority of the contacts
in my address book just won't go onto the list. I've even tried
adding them one by one, but they just don't show up on the list.

These are all just basic email addresses in the contacts, nothing
weird about the emails.

Any suggestions?

They underlined in the Members field right above the Ok button?
