OS - Windows ME with all patches
IE 6 with all updates
I have dial up and a wireless connection on the laptop.
When I connect with the wirless though router to cable modem IE opens all
pages.
When I use the dialup it connects to ISP, but IE gives me the above error.
I have had this with 2 different ISP - so I don't think it is their problem -
I have just formatted and re-installed windows.
There are no virus or spyware.
If I connect to dialup on my desk top running XP home both connections work
fine.
I have set different profiles so wireless is not in the dial up profile.
All cookies and temps have been released
I am at a dead end. No tech support at either ISP were able to help.

What did you use to check for spyware?

Frank,

I ran both of the suggested programs with the same results.
I have just re-formatted and er-installed WinME. I was having problem
before that action.
Again if I connect via my wireless to router on cable everything works fine.
I would not worry about dialup, but one place I travel that is the only
connection.
Do you have other suggestion?

Try this: (A little work, but can't hurt and may correct a corrupted file or
registry issue)
Go to the Control Panel's Add/Remove icon and then to the Windows Tab (I no
longer have ME so the wording may not be right)
Uninstall the "dial-up" adapter.
Reboot and then go back to the Add/Remove icon and reinstall the "dial-up"
adapter.
Then make a new dial-up for your ISP.
Try using the new dial-up and see if your problem goes away.
