Can you use Track changes and the insert override function togeth.

Can you use Track changes and the insert override function together? When i
turn on track changes i can't just type over old text. I have to highliht
the text to type over it.

It seems as if you can't. When you begin to track changes, Overtype mode
is automatically turned off (and greyed out on the Edit tab of
Tools>Options).
