Can USB 1.1 AND USB 2.0 CO-EXIST ?

Running XP SP2 (up to date). I currently have two USB 1.1 ports that are
used for my keyboard and mouse. If I purchase and install a USB 2.0 pci
card, can I continue to use the USB 1.1 at the same time with the USB 2.0 ?
Thanks for any help with this. I am a novice.
 
USB 1.1 and 2.0 are to do with the actual hardware.. having installed the
USB 2.0 card, you will notice an extra entry in Device manager re. enhanced
USB ports.. you may want to go for a four port card, which will give you
space to expand as more external devices become USB connects..
 
Both can co-exist. However, this does not mean that the older USB 1.1 ports
will be converted to USB 2.0 versions.
