can' send Email from Outlook XP in Vista

Hallo,

some of the mails I see here remind of my new problem.

After years of slogging along with an age old laptop (Windows XP and MS
Office xp Professional) I bought two new computers running Vista Home
Premium and one (Asus netbook) running XP. Result: netbook can use the same
Outlook settings as previously, but the other two, using the same XP
settings will let me send Emails (to myself and elsewhere) but the Vista
machines absolutely refuse to send mails to anywhere.

Any one had similar experiences?

The error message was:
Task 'mail.navigate.de - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The
connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact
your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

which is not really very informative.

thanks in advance.

Have you any additional security software running like a third party
firewall, also the antivirus could possibly do this, what are the common
factors that could be different to the Asus machine? If you are sure the
settings are identical to the XP settings then eliminate the obvious
first, and Vista does have tighter default settings. Assume you can see
the internet from the Vista machines...

Hallo,

In the meantime I've discovered something myself.

When I go into Tools Options Email accounts and set up the exactly same
parameters as previously (including Remember Password). I can send and
receive mails. If I then close down Outlook and restart it, the password has
been removed and, of course, nothing works anymore. When I re-enter it,
everything is OK until the next shutdown and restart.

I assume that this has something to do with Vista's famous security quirks.
How can I get it to really "remember the password"?

Regards,

Gordon Filby

There might be better answers available but if so then you need to ask in an
Outlook newsgroup or forum.
