Can send and receive but no replies

Hello I've got two accounts on Windows Mail and on both accounts, I can send
and also receive but if anyone replies to my message, it gets lost in
cyberspace (no error messages on either end). I have the space allocation
equally divided among accounts. Virus scan (Norton) is disabled for email.
Any advice?

Under Tools - Accounts - Mail - Properties - General,
what is in the "reply to" box?
 
What do you mean by "space allocation"?

What happens when you send an email to yourself. Does it arrive?
If so, reply to it, and check for that reply to arrive.
As Richard indicates, the 'Reply To' setting may be incorrect in
your settings, although most people leave that blank, in which case
the reply would go to the 'From' address.
 
Oops. I haven't been replying to group here so I apologize if you guys have
been getting emails from me. I'm obviously not used to these news groups!
Ok, There's nothing in the "reply to" box.
What I meant to for space allocation is, in the settings of my webmail that
I was told to change (Road Runner). They told me to allocate less space for
the main account (when I was first setting up the second). I didn't know how
much to use exactly so I divided it equally among the two accounts (the
total allowed space divided in half, for each). It was a pretty random guess
as to what to do.
I can send mail to myself. It arrives but if I reply to it, nothing happens.
Same if I send mail to someone else, they get it but if they try to reply,
nothing happens. It just disappears.

In Windows Mail, go to Tools, Accounts, select that mail account.
On the General tab, closely inspect what you have there in the
"E-mail address" field. That address becomes the 'From' address
on messages you send out. If it is not accurate, replies will not
come back to you.
 
Ok I just did that. It's correct.

Then you've got me stumped. I know of no other reason why
replies don't come back to you.

Can anyone tell me how much space I should have allocated for each account?
I don't know if that would make a difference but I am grasping at straws
here.

I can't really answer your 'space' question because Windows Mail
has no space allocation settings. It appears to be something unique
to your mail server. One way to handle it is to divide the available
server space equally among your accounts.
 
Ok thanks Gary. That's what I did so I'm totally stumped! And discouraged :(

Since your problem is not one normally encountered in Windows Mail,
I suspect it is some sort of issue with the way your account is set up
on the server.

If you feel like troubleshooting it some more, to pinpoint where the
problem lies, here are two approaches.

1) Try a different email program. If the same problem happens with
a different email program, then you can rule out WM as the cause,
and it is more likely being caused at the server level.
2) Try a different email provider. If that cures the problem, it would
prove that your current email provider is at fault.
 
I tried downloading Windows Live Mail but didn't have any luck.

In Windows Mail Tools | Accounts | Prperties carefully retype your correct
E-mail address.
