Can open media centre

i have windows xp media centre, it all work fine then about 6 months ago i
lost all my shortcuts to open it, i also lost the ability to open media
centre via the remote control. Sometimes it opens but very rarely. The only
way i can open media centre is by placing a dvd into my drive and select
media centre as the program to view the dvd.

Any ideas whats gone wrong?

i've done a search on my hard drive for "media", hoping to find the media
centre .exe but i cant find one

Media center is part of your Shell, I also have media center and I find
it to be nothing but useless. Nether the less just make a new short cut
with the target of %SystemRoot%\ehome\ehshell.exe and start it
C:\WINDOWS\ehome and that should do the trick.
