can not see x or - in opened e-mail

When I open an e-mail in windows mail, desktop PC, windows Ultimate......the
X - AND BOX are missing from the upper right corner. The only way I can
close it is to go to file - close. Can you help me to repair this? Thank
you. Ginny
 
Never mind. I just pulled the e-mail down 1/4" from the top and they showed
up. Duh.
