can not connect to microsoft update 0x8ddd0004 error

If this is not the correct group please advise.

I can not connect to Microsoft update after about six years.

if you have recently removed Norton products from your PC this could cause
Microsoft update issues
 
No I got a virus of some kind. Did not write it down. F-Prot caught it but I
had to disable system restore to get it all. Now only apparent damage can
not connect to update. Windows XP Pro
