I don't quite understand what you're trying to achieve, nor how.

I understand MIDI and MPU-401 and two meanings of synchronisation: playing
music at the same time and making two computers end up with the same version
of the same files in a designated directory.

I think that the user is trying to use a midi sync feature that allows one
PC with the appropriate midi interface to act as a midi sync reference for
the rest of the midi subsystem, which can be multiple instruments and even
more than one PC. The scheme requires compatable hardware and software. The
midi sync signals must be more or less the same (timing) if the scheme is to
work. In the deep dark past, when midi instruments analog outputs were
recorded on tape, a sync timing track was also recorded. This track became
the time reference used to support the generation of additional tracks and
maintain the timing. This concept is still used with digital layering of
tracks.
