Can messages be deleted in bulk or via a message rule?

I would like to maintenance the messages in my inbox using a message rule
based on date received. Can this be done?
 
What do you mean " maintenance the messages ..." ???
How does it relate to what you wrote on the Subject field ?

Yes, but you'll need to apply the Rule manually, not automatically.
