Can I un-install a program and re-install it with the original di

I thought I'd try to ask my question in the XP group. It is about about my
Windows Media Player but the forum down there doesn't seem to get many
answers to their questions (including one I left). Since then, the Windows
Media Player is just getting worse, asking odd questions (i.e. "is the music
on another computer?"-No! It's in your own Library!, etc.)

My question is: "Can I un-install just Media Player and re-install just
that program from my original Windows XP Home disk? Will it let you install
just one prograqm or would it make you completely re-install Windows?"
(Don't want to do THAT!)

I had no trouble at all with the program until the Version 11 beta WMP came
out. (I did not install it). But I checked the "updates" box in the
"Add/Remove Programs" area, and it showed Windows installed 2 updates with
Automatic Update around that time. Could those have had some preliminary
beta programming in them? Just a thought...

Help from you knowledgeable people would be appreciated!

I can't say that you will be able to install WMP from your XP disc, but
you can find installers for previous versions especially 9 and 10 online.

MayDay, thank you for your suggestion. I didn't know that! How do you find
these other online sources, just type in "Windows Media Player 10 Download"

You can download them from Microsoft, or just type your search string
into Google.

Travis,

You were certainly a "Mayday" saver for me. Thanks so much for the info and
even supplying the links to re-install WMP! This old crazy one "bytes the
dust" tomorrow. If I knew where your computer store is at, I'd be one of
your customers! : ^ )

If you know anybody in Morgan County Indiana,
have them send me an email (e-mail address removed)
No store yet, just doing service out of my home and while at my other
job, like now. Shhh. Don't tell my boss ;)
