Hi Bob,
The GX 280 's support three settings for Ac recovery
Off.. ON .. Last

Off means do nothing after a failure. On means Come On after a power failure
and Last means whatever was the last state if off then remain off if on then
come back on.

We had used Last state.. shutdown pc to "safe to turn offf" screen the power
bar off.
Last state would see it 's state as on when power bar was killed, therefore
would power on when the power bar was powered on again.

With is set to ON , it would be no different since this is an AC Recovery
option and assumes power failure. When you do a proper shutdown..(system auto
powers off) , then u power bar off. Next powerbar on , the system will still
not come on because it's not recognizing a power failure! The pc was powered
off correctly. It would if the machine would go down as far os the "safe to
turn off" screen but since it powers off completely, when you power bar on
the next day nothing happens. So .. I guess it's back to the drawing board. I
was hoping for some sort of registry edit or a software setting within
windows but it's seems likes it's just not possible. Thanks for your help .

There is a setting which will give you back that message. However, it is
not "really" supported since it involve re-configuring the computer standard
ACPI functions. You need to convert the computer from an ACPI type PC
(which will power off at shutdown) to a "standard" PC. look for this method
on the Internet.

PS: Be warned! This may involve a complete re-install of XP.

Hi Yves,
This is what we have done. We do get the "Safe to turn off" screen.
However, after roll back to Standard PC. There are numerous instances of
Motherboard Resources listed in Device Manager. 16 to be exact.. when ACPI
there is only 1. Also when it standard pc it creates "resources not
available" issues with Video Card. PS/2 keyboard and the RSAPNP port.
Those were the issues that prompted us to look into fixes for our setup. We
did a repair on it, it switched pc to ACPI and that corrected all Device
manager issues but removed our ability to shutdown to "Safe to turn off"
screen. So i guess we are trying to Take and ACPI setup and make it shutdown
to the "Safe to turn off" screen. I'm finding out that , I guess, it's
impossible. I wish Microsoft would have incorporated the option to shutdown
but not Auopowerdown.

Thanks for your help!

ACK! It IS broken! It is the equivilent of Last! Perhaps the "Power on a
a time" setting is useful? Where you may select what time the PC will
power itself up? It has a weekday setting also.
