Hi. I have a lot of material on audiocassetes that I would like to transfer
to a CD and burn with Windows Media Player. Can I use Windows XP and Windows
Media Player 10? I have a Kenwood stereo system with a double cassetes a
tuner and a Sony cd player and a Auxillary input on my Kenwood receiver. Is
this possible and how to do it?
Thanks

Windows does not come with a program to record music. They do offer a
package that I believe is called Windows Plus for about $20 that includes a
program that can parse the individual songs on tapes and records and create
a music file for each song. You can then use WMP to burn the CD. Your
computer must have stereo input jacks to connect to the tape player.

Disclaimer: The above is my opinion. I do not guarantee it. Be sure to back
up any files involved and use at your own risk. Batteries not included. Not
for internal use. Don't run with knives.

Connect your hi fi line-out (or if you don't have one your headphones) to
your PC sound card - line-in.

Download Audacity - its free : http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Install, select line-in as the source :

Double click on the loudspeaker icon in the systray > Options > Properties
tick recording > OK > tick line-in as the source

Launch Audacity and away you go.

Goldwave is another alternative (slight fee, but more options) :
http://www.goldwave.com

De-hiss and de-rumble using either software (gets rid of the K7 hiss and
rumbling), normalise the sound and then save as either an mp3 or wave file.

Cheers,
Jerry
