Windows Media Player 10

We have Win Media Player 10 and wonder if we can copy songs from a CD and
transfer the songs to a blank CD-RW (for our grandson) so it can be played on
a CD player?
We are not too familiar with procedure, but someone said Windows Media
Player can only copy songs from a CD onto our hard drive in WMA (?) format
and if we transferred these to a blank CD, they would not play on a CD
player. Is that true?
If it is, how can we make a copy CD that will play on his CD player?
(We are living on a small monthly fixed income and really cannot afford to
purchase a seperate program.
Thanks for any help.

Most CD players use the MP3 format, and some newer models support
WMA, WAV and same goes for home and car.
You can create CDs using WMP, but a lot depends on the PC you are
using. Does it have one or two CD drives? If one, you can copy to
the harddrive (Temp) and then to another CD, but recommend you use
CD-Rs, not CD-RWs. There is a lot more than just to make copies. The
disk you are trying to copy may also be copyright protected, eventhough
it looks like it will make copies, but the songs/files will not play. If you
have Nero or Roxio, use that for they will make better disks.
